Q: What type of cakes do you do? A:
We
do cakes for any occasions from weddings, engagements,
A: In short, as soon as possible, the earlier you order the more chance the date you want will be available and the more design options will be available to you. Some designs such as sugar flowers & figures need to be prepared in advance to allow time for drying so they hold their shape. Normally wedding cakes should be ordered well ahead to secure the date and we would recommend no later than 2 months ahead however as we have recently relocated to the South Coast we are currently able to accept later bookings provided date is still available. Other special occasion cakes should be normally be ordered at least 2 weeks ahead for complex designs and at least 1 week ahead for more basic designs but again it is best to book early to ensure the date you need is available.
A: This depends on how many people you need to serve, whether the cake will be served on its own, as dessert or with coffee after a full 3 course meal as this will determine the size of the slices and consequently how many can be cut from each cake.
A: Yes within reason, we focus on producing cakes that are not just a run of the mill cake so we can’t offer one of ours for the price of a mass produced cake. We can however discuss with you a range of options and the price differences between those options. For example instead of having a hundred handcrafted sugar flowers cascading down the cake you could perhaps have a few larger strategically placed flowers that give a dramatic & elegant look for a lower cost.
A: The first thing we will ask you is the date of the wedding so we can check that we have that date available, the next question we will ask is have you booked the venue for your reception and are you allowed to bring in outside cakes as some venues do not allow it and some do allow it but charge a per slice cutting/plating fee that you will need to factor into your budget. You will also need to determine whether the cake is to be served as dessert or after dessert with coffee. Think about the colours/styles/themes/flowers you are using for your wedding and whether you would like them incorporated into your cake. Have a look at pictures of other cakes for inspiration. Call or email to arrange a consultation and bring any pictures, fabric samples or anything else to be incorporated into the design with you.
