Frequently Asked Questions
Q:What type of cakes do you do?
A: We do cakes for any occasion from weddings, engagements, birthdays, christenings, anniversaries, corporate or any special event. We can incorporate any themes, hobbies or interests into a cake. Have a look in our gallery at some examples of what we can do, however please note that we can create a design especially for you.
Q: When do I need to place my order for a cake?
A: In short, as soon as possible, the earlier you order the more chance the date you want will be available and the more design options will be available to you. Some designs such as sugar flowers & figures need to be prepared in advance to allow time for drying so they hold their shape.
Normally wedding cakes should be ordered well ahead to secure the date and we would recommend no later than 2 months ahead however we may be able to accommodate later bookings provided the date is still available. Birthday and special occasion cakes should be normally be ordered at least 2 weeks ahead but again it is best to book early to ensure the date you need is available.
**Please note that your date is not secured until a deposit is paid.**
Q: I’m on a budget can you help me?
A: Yes within reason, we focus on producing cakes that are not just a run of the mill cake so we cant offer one of ours for the price of a mass produced cake. We can however discuss with you a range of options and the price differences between those options. For example instead of having a hundred handcrafted sugar flowers cascading down the cake you could perhaps have a few larger strategically placed flowers that give a dramatic and elegant look for a lower cost. Our pricing page gives some examples of our less expensive cakes.
Q: I am getting married what things do I need to consider when choosing my cake?
A: Colours/styles/themes/flowers you are using for your wedding and whether you would like them incorporated into your cake. Have a look at pictures of cakes for inspiration and think about what you like and don’t like in the cakes you have seen, as this will all help in developing a design you will love. Before we can quote a price we will need the following information:
- The date of the wedding (so we can check that we have that date available)
- The venue/location (if the cake is to be delivered)
- The approximate number of guests and whether the cake is to be served as dessert or after dessert with coffee as this will affect the size of the slices and consequently the amount of cake required, the size and number of tiers etc.
- A general idea of the type of cake you have in mind.
Q: How big are the servings/slices?
A: Dessert/Wedding slice is 5cm x 2.5cm x height of cake and a coffee slice 2.5cm x 2.5cm x height of cake.
Q: I am from out of town but will be having my wedding/party in the Shoalhaven/Illawarra can I still order a cake from you?
A: Yes we have done this many times before. Your cake can be arranged by email and/or phone.
Q: How do I order a cake?
A: Go to the contact us page and give us a call or drop us an email. We will put the details in writing and ask you to confirm via email. The order is not secured until we receive the confirmation and 50% payment is made.
Q: How do I pay for my cake?
A:Your cake can be paid for via direct deposit (preferred) using your name as the reference or cash.
